For encryption of email messages optionally with attached files
Easy Email Encryption is for sending and receiving encrypted email (optionally with attached files up to 100 KB), and is designed to be easy to use. It works with any email program, including Outlook Express. It uses a symmetric key method, and keys are maintained in an encrypted list of keys for easy access. When a message is encrypted, the key required for decryption is the same as they key that was used for encyption. This means that for the recipient of an encrypted message to be able to decrypt it, they must know the encryption key. This has to be communicated by the sender to the receiver in some way, e.g., by letter, phone or in some more secure manner (such as during a private meeting).
The software allows you to maintain a list of encryption keys, each associated with a particular recipient (or group of recipients), so that you don't have to re-enter the encryption key each time you wish to send a message to a particular recipient.
In order to prevent others from discovering the keys you use to encrypt messages, the key list must itself be encrypted. This can be done by clicking on the 'Encrypt keys and store' button and entering a 'master' encryption key of your choice. Thus you can use many different encryption keys, for different recipients, but you need to remember only one key, the master key for encrypting and decrypting the key list.
Easy Email Encryption is bilingual, English/German, and works with text in languages other than English.
